Flabob Airport Preparatory Academy is a tuition-free, public charter high school and middle school (grades 7-12) located on Flabob Airport and operated by River Springs Charter School. It offers a broad liberal education, emphasizing science, mathematics, engineering and technology, and using aviation as a context, example and motivator.

- the "hand" using hands-on, project learning to bridge the gap between the schoolroom and the world; and

NEW CHARTER INITIATIVE
In the Autumn of 2012, The Wathen Center in partnership with Big Picture Learning and Big Picture Schools California will file a petition for a new charter with the Jurupa Unified School District. The charter will provide for a new high school to be called the Tom Wathen Big Picture Aviation Academy, to open its doors in the Autumn of 2013. We have long admired the educational philosophy and achievements of the Big Picture schools, their learning goals and dedication to educating one student at a time. The new Academy will make it possible better to achieve our principal goal of using the fascination of flight to inspire the love of learning for successful careers and satisfying lives.
