The Design Group meets on the 4th Saturday of each month at 10:00 a.m. at the EAA Chapter One Hangar.  (Occasionally this may be a different Saturday because of conflicts)  The Design Group is a revival of the original Design Group, an offshoot of EAA Chapter 40, which for two decades ending in the 1980s, educated experts and novices alike in all technical aspects of aircraft.  The Group assists its members' research and projects, and presents interesting speakers on technical matters.   There are no dues or charges, and members range from well-known aerodynamics experts to novices who have an interest in learning.  An occasional newsletter records activities of the Design Group; links are found here.  Here is the 2009 schedule:
July 25
August 22
September 26 (Chapter One Open House)
October  24
November  21 (third Saturday because of Thanksgiving)
December 19 Third week because of holidays

The Design Group's subgroup, the Roadable Airplane Workshop, is organizing the very first cavalcade of roadable vehicles, schedule to be announced.

Another adult education initiative, the Rubidoux Gentlepersons' Literary Society, is our book group and welcomes new members.  It meets irregularly as its members finish the assigned books.  Call Kathy Rohm at 951 683-2309 x 104 for the schedule.

On the first Friday of every month, at five o'clock, we gather at the Chapter One hangar for Flabob's Famous Family-Friendly Free Flying Film Festival.  We watch corny old airplane movies and serials, munch popcorn, and learn about the Good Old Days as portrayed by Hollywood.  Admission and popcorn are free.  We send out for pizza, for which we ask a modest donation.   This is highly educational.  For one thing, through our program a new generation has come to know the acting of Wallace Beery, Slim Summerville, Frank McHugh and Franklin Pangborne, not to mention Guy Kibbee.
